Nice work with changing the contents of the room after someone has visited it! Great use of that mechanic. I wonder if you did that with the if-else statements or the history: macro? Aha! And having the remote changes your future options! Great job creating a story that builds on itself & presents you with additional options later. The impact of the choices isn’t just felt immediately, and changes the outcomes later. The aesthetic is also super solid and well crafted. This is a great piece! I “waited 50 hours” before I gave up that anything would happen.
I really enjoyed this game. Of course the moving background is visually captivating, but I also really enjoyed your text descriptions of each door, and how each choice made a genuine impact on the rest of the game, like finding the remote and using it in the red room, or instead looking on the desk and going to the vending machine. Every choice made feels so final and also so high stakes in a way. There is a sense of risk in the choice to grab a banana instead of a chocolate bar, and unlike most twine games, you don't give us the opportunity to turn back. I think this is a very smart mechanic because it kept me playing longer, and trying to find new things. (still can't find the code to the safe). I also really enjoyed that the wait mechanic was useless, because I did click it 50 times before moving on. I think that this strange dream sequence was a sensible story to tell using this platform, because it highlights the risk of choice in an engaging way.
I like this game a lot! It is very immersive and makes me want to play it many times. I tried many times, but only reached three possible endings. The impact of each choice is not immediately reflected, but it can be said that when you make a key choice, the subsequent development will be uncontrollable. So every choice, or the order of choices, is crucial in this game. Although I still haven't found the pin I need, I found many unexpected storylines in the later attempts. This game reflects the riskiness of choice. And there are clues in some options. Players can think carefully and distinguish some possible outcomes in the future. The game has a high degree of freedom. Players can discover hidden options while exploring independently. Besides, the text jokes in the game are very interesting, which reminds me of similar text messages I used to receive. The dynamic background at the beginning of the game really gives the dream effect very well, and the red background really makes me feel nervous.
Very fun! I liked the background effect in the first part, though I wish that trippy effect carried through elsewhere. I enjoyed poking around all the different rooms and seeing how they changed, and the safe puzzle was a nice touch. My specific choices didn't seem to influence the middle of the story so much as they decided which ending I got. This works alright, though I wonder if there could be any way to influence my environment before the end?
The red room was hard to look at, though, and while I understand that to be the intention, it could probably be desaturated just a little bit. Otherwise, a solid, very funny experience.
Very cool game, I really like the different html backgrounds you've done and also there is a variety of different codes used such as the 4 digit password and waiting time. The game was really engaging with many different outcomes and also many different effects created from the backgrounds. I really liked how different clues and items in the game affected later stages such as finding the clue to getting the code to the safe and being able to get a ending from that. Really well done and thought out game!
